Yesterday, the Student Council’s Academic Team hosted a Subject Fair for our Year 11 students, providing them with a valuable opportunity to explore their post-GCSE options. The event brought together students from Year 12 and Year 13 to showcase the various academic pathways available, including A Levels, BTECs, and the International Foundation Programme (IFP).
The Subject Fair offered an interactive and informative environment where students could meet with their senior peers, who shared insights into their chosen subjects and academic experiences. Year 12 and 13 students provided valuable information on what each subject entails, including the course content, assessment methods, and career prospects, helping the younger students make more informed decisions about their future.
In addition to face-to-face discussions, the fair featured displays of students’ work from different subjects. These presentations not only highlighted the range of academic offerings but also gave a tangible sense of what the students could expect should they choose to pursue a particular course. From scientific experiments to creative portfolios, the exhibits served as a practical showcase of what each subject requires and how it can be applied in real-world scenarios.
Whether considering the analytical depth of A Levels, the practical focus of BTEC qualifications, or the international perspective of the IFP, the event provided a wealth of information to help guide the students’ choices.
A big thank you goes to the Student Council’s Academic Team for organising such a successful event, as well as to all the Year 12 and 13 students who participated. The Subject Fair not only facilitated thoughtful conversations but also inspired the Year 11 students as they begin to chart their academic futures.
