11th March 22
When I led our weekly assembly this week, I flagged to the students it was looking like a busy week, as well it has proved, with lessons, activities, Student Council interviews and much more.
Students have also been revising hard as they complete their latest round of milestones. As the saying goes, “practice makes perfect”, and it is important to utilise the milestones as a way of ensuring students are primed to deliver their best when the external examinations come round. For many, this will be their first experience of public examinations, given the changes caused by Covid, so a new challenge to overcome – but one we know they will rise to.
Away from the classroom, it has been good to see better weather this week with students making greater use of the outdoor sports court at break and lunchtimes. It is important for students to study hard, but some balance is vital and enjoying sport activities, along with getting fresh air, will undoubtedly help with this. Following a similar theme, Director of Boarding, Shirley Mitchell, is leading a group of our students on the Spectrum Night Walk at the beginning of April, in support of the National Autistic Society – any students who are keen but yet to sign up should get in touch with her directly. A great way to get in some exercise whilst raising awareness and funds for a good cause!
We continue to support our students through ongoing conflict; this has been a difficult time for our community, but it is amazing to see students pulling together in support of one another – a true testament to our College values. I hope to see this continue in all areas of school life, as we head towards the Easter break.
For now, I hope the students enjoy a little downtime after this week’s assessments, ready to return to ‘normal’ lessons next week!
Best wishes,
James Kidd
