This weekend, our students embarked on an exciting project, filming their own short film or re-creating a scene from the beloved movie Notting Hill. We slightly changed our setting, opting for a more actor-friendly version by creating a bookshop/café setting—so our actors didn’t have to stand for six hours!
Students took on a variety of roles such as director, camera operator, and lighting technician. They also turned their hand to set dressing by generating fake books (don’t look too closely as you may see the same book appear more than once!) to fill the shelves. This was a great opportunity to develop not only their practical skills and knowledge of filmmaking but also those all-important soft skills of communication, time management, teamwork, and creativity.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. Stay tuned for the final cut of their film . . .
