The intoxicating thrill of a new season sparked excitement and motivation for not just the returning girls but also for the competitive new Year 12’s. There was about the same number of returning girls as new girls, and everyone played well.
Mondays match was the first of the new season and the motivation to do well in the first game back was high as the team participated in a difficult match up against Queens College. The other team played well and were a couple levels higher than DLD, the score being 20-3 (DLD). Nonetheless, the returning girls embraced the challenge of adapting to a new team while also encouraging the new players to play the best they can and co-ordinate tactics with each other.
Through enthusiasm and hard work, we were able to identify new skills within the team which will prepare us upcoming matches. Though we lost, the match allowed us to set new goals and gain further motivation for upcoming competitions. Ultimately, the game was a good start to the season with everyone having a good idea of netball and an enthusiastic attitude.
Player of the match was awarded to Hana!
DLD football team were also back in action with a convincing win against Hampstead Fine Arts. Hat-trick hero Kai reflected on the match, “We had a great game ending in 4-1 to us. Most of the action took place in the second half where I scored the first goal to break the tension and then Fine Arts scored to equalise. We then got a free kick where I scored to give us the lead. Rohan scored another goal to increase our lead. I scored the 4th goal for our team to seal my hat trick and the win”.
