14th October 22
On Monday 10th Oct students and Staff alike descended on Archbishops’ Park for this year’s Boys’ House Football competition. All Houses were strong in terms of squad sizes which was a positive sign and shows that students are keen to represent their Houses. It was also pleasing to see the support for each House and in particular, Northern, who won House points for being the most supported House…”Northern…Northern…Northern” was bellowed out a few times, I’m looking forward to adding a few more chants to their repertoire for the next event 😉.
After the warm-up, it was time to get into the action! Northern got off to a flying start with a win early on, whilst Metropolitan and District ended in an entertaining 0-0 draw.
As the competition developed, pre-competition favourites Northern continued to dominate whilst Jubilee, District and Metropolitan tried to keep up with them. Piccadilly, last year’s winners didn’t fare so well and struggled to get that all-important win. If Northern were the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury then District and Metropolitan were the “other” stage with their own battle going on and their overall position in the competition being decided on goal difference! An excellent event played with great passion, pride and skill, I’m already looking forward to Girls Netball in November!
Well done to all Houses for making it a fantastic competition.
Final Standings:
1st – Northern
2nd – Metropolitan
3rd – District
4th – Jubilee
5th – Piccadilly
