For the first time this year DLD College London have been directly entering students who take private music lessons for music examinations, run by The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). ABRSM have a long and very rich pedigree, and are well respected around the world. They have remained consistent in make-up and quality over 120 years. Students study Grades 1-8 then go on to study for a Diploma, usually at undergraduate level. Grade 6-8 exams earn students UCAS points, so if they pass Grade 8 at Distinction level they earn 75 UCAS points.
Our first set of results were extremely encouraging:
Munkh passed Grade 8 Piano and Grade 5 Theory . He also achieved a Merit on Grade 2 Flute. Munkh’s result is made all the more remarkable because he only began studying the flute last September.
Emma passed Grade 8 Cello. Emma also passed Grade 1 Singing with a Merit. This was also a new study for her and she was required to sing three songs in English from memory.
Isobel passed Grade 6 Singing and Grade 5 Piano with Merit. Isobael also passed Grade 1 Singing with Merit.
