DLD A Level Business Studies and ICT trip to Paris

ICT and Business students from DLD College London benefited from a much-coveted opportunity to study at Disneyland Paris recently, gaining a unique insight into the billion-dollar Disneyland enterprise.

Students were given the chance to apply their studies into a real-world scenario at Disneyland Paris, learning from keynote technology and business figures as part of a highly interactive study programme. But it wasn’t all work and no play for the 35 DLD College students, who also enjoyed the more lighthearted side of the theme park, having fun on the rides at Disneyland Park.

During the trip, students had the opportunity to come face to face with speakers from high profile companies, including Mark Pilkington, Head of Commercial at Disney, Ian Livingstone from Dungeons & Dragons Games, and Fraser Doherty, CEO of Superjam who set up the company at the age of 14.

The speakers provided memorable examples and case studies to help with their learning, presenting the most current ICT issues within their industry, linking it to key topics covered in the OCR and AQA A-level curriculum. After the talks, students had the opportunity to quiz speakers, which meant the presenters were on the receiving end of some testing questions from DLD College students.

Ms Louie A Alvarado, Head ICT & Computing Department, said: “The trip was a brilliant experience for the students, who were able to learn from some of the very best in the industry about the most current issues facing business and ICT experts today. They also had the opportunity to quiz the speakers, which has increased their understanding of some of the areas we’ve been learning about in class. It was great fun too, as the group spent some time in the theme park going on the rides.

Principal at DLD College London, Rachel Borland, said: “I’m delighted the students have had the opportunity to learn from the experience and have gained a new perspective on some of the topics they’ve been studying.”
